Congratulations! You are pregnant and your baby is going to be born in Frankfurt am Main. There’s lots of things to be organized – including where you’d like your baby to be born.
In Frankfurt there are five maternity clinics, one birthing center and "Beleghebammen" (attending midwives) who can assist you in St. Elisabethen-Krankenhaus (see below). Furthermore, some freelance midwives also offer home births.
In Frankfurt several hospitals also have so-called “Babylotsen”. You can contact them if you need help before or after giving birth e.g. if you want to apply for things like “Elterngeld”.

St. Elisabethen-Krankenhaus Frankfurt:
The midwives of MainHebammenteam are attending midwives at the hospital.
This was the first hospital in Frankfurt to introduce a delivery room led by attending midwives.
You can register to give birth by phone calling +49 69 79391249 between pregnancy week 30 and 32.
Every first and third Monday at 6.30pm the hospital offers info evenings - sometimes in-person and sometimes online. You only have to register for the online events.
More than 4.000 babies are born here every year – the most births in the state of Hessen!
The hospital is a Perinatalzentrum Level 1 (highest level). If complications occur or are to be expected during pregnancy or birth, the care of mother and baby can be guaranteed here as best as possible.
They offer a video tour of the delivery room and other videos regarding birth but no info evenings at the moment.
You can make an appointment for birth registration for the “regular” delivery room or the delivery room led by midwives.
Varisano - Klinikum Frankfurt Höchst
You can make an appointment for your birth registration online by choosing your preferred date. You have to answer some questions and have to add the calculated date of birth of your baby. The appointment should take place after week 25 of your pregnancy.
The hospital is a Perinatalzentrum Level 1 (highest level). If complications occur or are to be expected during pregnancy or birth, the care of mother and baby can be guaranteed here as best as possible.
The info evenings take place every first and third Thursday of the month at 6pm. The next dates can be found here (Infoabend zu Schwangerschaft und Geburt) and you are able to register online once you have chosen a date. Click “Anmeldung” and fill in the form.
Fill in this form in English or Russian to contact the international office of the hospital.
Their info event takes place at the auditorium of house 14 (2nd floor) every second and fourth Monday of the month at 6.30pm. You don’t have to register beforehand, just come by. The event lasts 2.5 hours.

The info evening (Informationsabend für werdende Eltern) takes place every first and third Tuesday and will start at 6pm.
To attend the hybrid (online and in-person) info evening choose the date. You don’t have to register if you want to attend in-person. You can find the information on virtual participation on their website

Birthing Center
Ten freelance midwives work at the Geburtshaus Frankfurt
There is always individual (1-on-1) support during birth and you get to know your midwife beforehand.
Every year, up to 1000 babies are born at the birth center
The center can also be found on Instagram
You can apply for giving birth at the center by calling +49 69 - 52 72 82 from Monday to Friday between 9am and 12pm. You will get an appointment for your first check-up, where you will be informed which midwives will take care of you.
